X 16"x20"
Nadia was one of a group of courageous women, known as the Sewing Circle of Herat, who risked their lives to study literature under the Taliban regime. At age 25 she published her first book of poetry, "Dark Red Flower" in 2005. Believing that the publication of poetry by a woman about love and beauty brought shame on the family, her husband beat her to death. She had a six month old son.
Arabic Script:
The Qur'an, Sura 58,1: Allah hears the words of that woman who disagrees with her husband. God hears all and sees all.
